Cycling Without Age

"Cycling Without Age is a movement started in 2012 by Ole Kassow. Ole wanted to help the elderly get back on their bicycles, but he had to find a solution to their limited mobility. The answer was a trishaw and he started offering free bike rides to the local nursing home residents.  He then got in touch with a civil society consultant from the City of Copenhagen, Dorthe Pedersen (now Cycling Without Age), who was intrigued by the idea and together they bought the first 5 trishaws and launched Cycling Without Age, which has now spread to all corners of Denmark, and since 2015 to another 33 countries around the world."

-- Cycling Without Age

Cycling Without Age operates on the principles of generosity, kindness, storytelling, relationships and slowing down to enable all of the above. It is about connecting and building relationships with those who are isolated, across the generations or otherwise, and bringing joy, purpose and a sense of belonging and support through the simple and yet exhilarating act of riding a bike together.

As an independent affiliate* of Cycling Without Age we are working towards fundraising AUD 15,000 in order to build and bring a trishaw to the inner Perth/Vincent area to  help facilitate the wonderful community benefits that this platform of giving can provide, and the enormously positive impacts on life that this can have for all involved.

The Bike (Trishaw)

The trishaw being fundraised for is a "trioBike Taxi" from Cargo Cycles in Melbourne.

The AUD 15,000 raised will cover the cost of the trishaw, a spare battery and shipping. Should any amount be remaining, it will be donated to the Cycling Without Age organisation.

Partnership/Sponsorship

Partnerships with businesses, organisations and other groups in the community are most welcomed; and logo/advertising space on the trishaw is available in line with the organisation's specifications.  This could be either in the form of donations, or in-kind support, such as storage/access, insurance or bike maintenance.

Contact

Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you would like to find out more, or if you would like to be a part of the journey in bringing a trishaw to Perth/Vincent area. There are also some wonderful affiliates currently starting up in surrounding northern and southern suburbs around the Perth Metropolitan area who would also be happy to assist in any collaboration.

*As independent affiliates we are not (at this stage) associated with an aged care home or other facilities or businesses; and are volunteering as individuals. If this changes in any way, this page will be updated to reflect this.
